American television show. 1964-1948. An Irwin Allen's TV series, 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' was based on the movie of the same title, which was also created by Allen. In the series, Admiral Nelson was played by Richard Basehart and is a typical mad scientist who designed the Seaview submarine, and Lee Crane is the Captain in command of the sub. The actors were best friends and it comes across on screen, with a sort of father/son relationship although there is only 14 years between their ages. by Fay Symes.
