Before "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons". Before even "Thunderbirds". There was "Stingray". Another Supermarionation series, "Stingray was the first to be shown in colour! The series, which comprises 39 episodes of 30 minutes, follows the adventures of the "Stingray" crew, Captain Troy Tempest, 'Phones' Sheridan, navigator and hydrophone operator, and the beautiful and the beautiful mute mermaid Marina, from a race of peaceful underwater inhabitants. "Stingray" is a futuristic submarine from the World Aquanaut Security Patrol (WASP), a security organisation based in Marineville, led by Commander Sam Shore. WASP must fight many enemies, from spies, to saboteurs, and most importantly, a race of underwater warriors, led by would-be conqueror Titan, whose spy on the surface, Agent X-2-Zero, reports to. To complicate things, Troy's love life is torn between Marina and Commander Shore's daughter, Atlanta. |
