UFO


Made in 1970, "UFO" was the first life action TV series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.


Like its Supermarionation predecessor, this series follows the continuing missions of a special organisation defending Earth against alien invaders, in the then future year 1984. SHADO is a secret military organisation, and its main headquarters are situated under a movie studio. One of its first lines of defence is a MoonBase, located in the Sea of Tranquility, on the Moon.


SHADO is lead by Commander Ed Stryker, played byEd Bishop - the voice of 'Captain Blue' in 'Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons').


This popular series contains only 26 episodes. Received favourably by viewers, a second series, tentatively called "UFO 1999", was planned but alas, the project never came to fruition. Instead, a new series was created, which also became very popular on its own: "Space: 1999".
